Wnt proteins represents highly conserved family of signalling biomolecules regulating vital developmental processes including embryo axis patterning, regeneration potential, cell fate specificity and determination in animals. Existence of Wnt protein mediated signalling in plants is still unexplored. Homologs of proteins like glycogen-synthase-kinase-3, casein-kinase-1 and Adenomatous-polyposis coli which together act as a negative regulator of metazoan Wnt signalling, have been traced in plants. Interestingly, genome-wide survey of cotton could reveal the presence of Wnt protein and its receptor, Frizzled up in Gossypium arboreum. Moreover, publicly available annotated sequence data have unravelled the existence of certain other proteins like Dishevelled homologs of betacatenin in plants. These proteins orchestrate the initiation of Wnt signalling pathway in animals. Manifestation of homologs of such Wnt signalling factors in plants, indicates a possible mimicry of similar signalling pathways. We have attempted to hypothesize a novel signalling network involving Wnt protein and other associated proteins in plants, considering animal systems as a model.Keywords

Objectives: In this paper an experimental study is carried out to reduce the exhaust gas temperature of a Spark Ignition (SI) engine by injecting water in the intake manifold. Methods/Statistical Analysis: The reduction of exhaust gas temperature decreases the NOx emissions. To achieve this, an experimental setup was fabricated to spray water using a small compressor at the intake manifold. A solenoid valve is used to regulate the water injection; the solenoid valve was in turn controlled by an electrical circuit. The temperature of exhaust gas was measured continuously using ‘J’ type thermocouple and digital temperature indicator. Findings: Injection of water just after the carburettor in the intake manifold reduced the overall temperature of the cylinder due to higher latent heat of vaporization. As the temperature inside the cylinder is reduced, harmful emissions such as NOx and CO are reduced thus bringing down the pollution to a greater extent. Applications/Improvements: In order to reduce the pollution caused due to automobile emission can be controlled by injection of water in the intake manifold.Keywords

In the absence of mandatory reporting requirements in India, few corporate bodies make environmental disclosure purely on voluntary basis in the form of sustainability reporting. Thus, the purpose of the present paper is to assess whether Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited furnishes environmental information in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines and also to measure the performance of the company on the basis of the selected environmental performance indicators. The data for the present study has been collected from the Sustainability Report of the company and covers a time span of five years starting from 2012-13. The key findings of the study indicate that the company provides adequate information on selected environmental performance indicators in accordance to the GRI guidelines and also reported that the company has been able to reduce the consumption of resources like coal and diesel on year-to-year basis. It is recommended that the company should make disclosure on materials and natural resources used by manufacturing units in terms of volume and weight.Keywords
